Mass Vaccination Drive

  1. Vaccination is the only feasible means to edge-out or control the rising spread of corona virus. The need to increase the momentum of vaccination drive have been the priority of the government. Many misinformation and rumors in social Medias and from eminent community leaders have led to high prevalence of hesitancy among the communities in the remote areas. Hence, the need to mobilize the community and advocate for vaccination is something that cannot be ignored altogether. READS have also reached out to the district administration and health department to render a helping hand in vaccination advocacy and drive. In-spite of the tot al curfew imposed by the district administration for a period of 10 days due to the rising cases of positivity, a Joint Action Plan for mass vaccination drive was developed with the District Administration and District Health Society, Churachandpur. The plan ALSO covers 22 CCCD project villages in Churachandpur, Manipur. Conducted Covid-19 vaccination for eligible age group in all the 22 target villages.

Awareness Raising

The awareness dissemination was implemented in all the 22 villages of the project area in Churachandpur, Manipur. This awareness dissemination was carried out in parallel with distribution of essential food and non-food items. Gathering the community to a specified location at this time of pandemic is somewhat challenging. To prevent frequent gathering awareness dissemination was carried out on the same day of distribution of relief materials and vaccination drive. The central theme of the awareness is to ‘mobilize and giving the right information to the community about vaccination in-order to reduce vaccination hesitancy’.

Apart from verbal dissemination, awareness through social media have also been initiated. A Facebook page has been created. Two short video clips on vaccination advocacy message delivered by two well-known medical professions are uploaded for the public to access. This approach will contribute to furtherance our effort in disseminating awareness among the general public.
